Exeter Martial Arts School rules

Martial Arts are all about discipline. Please follow these rules to make your training safe and enjoyable for all students 

Before your lesson starts

• Arrive 5-10 minutes prior to class allowing time to get changed ready for the warm up.
• Please do not park outside the Dojo. This parking is for instructors only.
• Leave your outdoor shoes in the racks at the door.
• Report any existing injuries to an instructor.
• Respect other people’s property and belongings.
• Remove all jewellery and watches before entering class.
• For your own safety, do not chew gum in class.
• Turn off all mobile phones (inform an instructor if you require your phone left on during class).
• Practice good personal hygiene habits (Keep your uniform clean, keep fingers and toe nails short etc. for safety and hygiene reasons).
• No smoking in the school (Please refrain from smoking outside the training venue either).
• Introduce your guests/visitors to an instructor and show them to a seat.
• No drinking or eating on the mats.
• Leave your ego at the door.

Striking gloves required by all students

Due to having a permanent dojo and all of the benefits and equipment we can use which go with it, we have recently purchased 3 'purple wavemasters' which will now be used in every class. As the children will be striking against a target, and not just air as before, they will need some gloves.

We have checked with the Sport England governing body BJJAGB who recommend a padded glove for all children.

You are able to purchase a pair for your child from £5 via the club.

ALL children will be required to wear a pair of gloves for each session

(please can you ensure they put them on before class starts to save time).
